Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur, Distt. Hoshiarpur (Punjab), India, a Post Graduate, Multi Faculty, Co-Educational college is a premier Institution of the Rural Area in District Hoshiarpur (Punjab), which was established in 1946 before the partition of India by HIS HOLINESS `SANT BABA HARI SINGH JI KAHARPURI’, the Founder President of Sikh Educational Council, with a missionary zeal of providing Higher Education to the boys and girls in general and particularly belonging to the Rural, Backward and Kandi areas, who were not able to go to other cities for Higher Education. It is the oldest educational institute of higher learning in rural & pre partitioned India and one of the oldest amongst premier Institutions of Higher Education in the north of India. The college is situated on Hoshiarpur Chandigarh Road at a distance of 22 kilometres from Hoshiarpur, 37 Kilometres from Phagwara, 35 Kilometres from Nangal Dam and 45 Kilometres from Una (Himachal Pradesh) in the foot hills of Shivalik Range of Hills. The college is spread over 200 Kanals of land with imposing buildings in lush green, pollution free environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. At the time of its establishment, only two faculities (Science and Arts) were introduced but after that Commerce and Computer Sciences were started to meet the challenges of 21st Century. Excellence in academics, sports and cultural activities has been a way of life of our students year after year. From the very beginning, this Institution has turned out innumerable Doctors, Engineers, Educationists, Defence Generals etc..

SCHOLARSHIPS

PRINCIPAL HARBHAJAN SINGH MEMORIAL TRUST

Every year 15 needy/ meritorious students are awarded scholarships of Rs. 4000/- each by the Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial Trust instituted by his family in the memory of the founder Principal of the college.

POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR SCHEDULED CASTES

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at Post-Matric or Post-Secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. These scholarships are paid to the students whose parents’/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum.

POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR THE OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES (OBCS)

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial0 assistance to the OBC students studying at Post-Matric or Post-Secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. Employed students whose income combined with the income of their parents/ guardians does not exceed Rs. 1 lac per annum as well as unemployed students whose parents’/ guardians’ income does not exceed Rs. 1 lac per annum are entitled to the scholarship under the scheme.

POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR MINORITY COMMUNITIES

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority communities from class XI to Ph.D. so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education increase their rate of attainment in higher education, and enhance their employability. Students belonging to Muslim/ Christian/ Sikh/ Buddhist/ Parsi communities who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/ guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2 lac are eligible for the scholarship under the scheme.

SPECIAL GRANT FOR GIRL STUDENTS BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTES

The girl students belonging to Scheduled Castes whose parents’/ guardians’ annual income does not exceed Rs. 60, 965/- are entitled to the special grant of Rs. 50/- and Rs. 60/- per month for Post-Matric and Post-Graduate studies, respectively.

SUNNY OBEROI SCHOLARSHIPS SCHEME

SARBAT DA BHALA CHARITABLE TRUST (SDBCT) is a philanthropic body dedicated to the cause of extending economic benefits to the underprivileged and hitherto neglected sections of the society. The Trust grants financial assistance under SUNNY OBEROI SCHOLARSHIPS SCHEME. The grant of this scholarship is a step in this direction where intelligent and hard working students are helped to pursue their higher education.
Eligibility:
Students covered under following categories are eligible to apply for the above said scholarships:
1. Students belonging to economically weaker section
2. A student who has lost his/her father (earning member of the family)
3. Students whose mother is a divorcee, and is not getting any supporting allowance from the husband.
4. Student whose families are affected by natural disaster.
5. Students who are differently abled.
6. Students recommended by Managing Trustee of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitbale Trust (Regd.)

Rules:
Following rules will be applicable for the selection of candidate:
1. Students whose parents annual income is less than one lac rupees.
2. Student must fulfill the mandatory class attendance conditions.
3. Student must not be getting scholarship/stipend on the basis of SC/BC category or Sikh Minority community Scholarship Scheme. They must first approach concerned authorities before applying to the Trust.
4. Students must have more than 65% marks in qualifying examination.
4 (a) The Scholarship will be paid by the Trust as per following formula depending on the performance of applicants in immediately previous examination/Semester.

  • NCC

    For character building through hard work, discipline and adventure, National Cadet Corps has no parallel. The college lays great emphasis on N.C.C. training as it makes the youth disciplined and patriotic, broadens their outlook and inculcates in them qualities of self-reliance, leadership and determination to serve the nation. Students desirous of joining N.C.C. may contact its office in the campus.

  • NSS

    The College has its N.S.S. unit which provides opportunity to the youth to understand the current problems of society. They learn the sense of Service before Self, the merit of leadership and discipline as well as feeling of involvement in national re-construction. They are involved in various activities like tree plantation, cleanliness drive, social awareness camps, and blood donation. Students interested in joining N.S.S. should contact the incharge, N.S.S. Unit of the College to fill in the prescribed proforma at the time of admission.

  • Gymnasium Hall

    The College has an ultra-modern gymnasium fully equipped with latest exercise machines. Besides the college students, the facility is also available to the health-conscious youth of the area at nominal charges.

  • Dispensary

    The College has its own Health Centre and ambulance and a qualified Medical Officer is available to the students. They are advised to call at the college clinic whenever indisposed/ill.

  • Transport

    The College stands committed in its resolve to the spread of female education. Keeping in line with this commitment, the College offers its own bus service to help girls from the surround-ing areas reach the college and go back to their homes safely, securely and comfortably.

  • Library

    The College has a well-stocked, digital duplex library with a treasure of about 45 thousand books. In addition to the course books, general books for personality development, general knowledge handbooks, yearbooks, reference books etc. are also periodically added to the collection. The library subscribes to a large number of research journals, magazines of current interest, periodicals along with national and regional dailies to keep the students abreast of the day to day happenings in the world and in their fields of study.
